District is a Blueprint for Serum 2 built around a simple shift in perspective:

What happens when the keyboard layout becomes the instrument?

Instead of focusing on synthesis complexity, District explores structured sample-to-keyboard mapping using SFZ as a canonical layer. A fixed pool of industrial textures, drones, and atmospheric material is transformed into multiple playable topologies.

Different mappings.
Different musical outcomes.

District is not designed as a traditional preset collection. It is a set of constrained listening environments where mapping shapes perception, playability, and emergent behavior.

To expand the sonic range, District also includes several non-SFZ-driven templates using Serum 2’s sampler, granular, and spectral oscillators - offering alternative interpretations of the same material.

Key Features

District is designed to remain open-ended. Users can load their own SFZ mappings and significantly alter the resulting behavior while preserving the structural concept.

Modularium Atmos

33 samples - VCV Rack-crafted ambience designed for widescreen scoring and spatial depth.

Strange Drones and Textures

46 samples - Haunting drones and surreal textures for tension-driven compositions.

Noir Textures

50 samples - Dark textures and atmospheric material suited for cinematic and industrial contexts.

All three packs are included in raw WAV format and with accompanying SFZ mappings for quick integration in compatible samplers.

Technical / Compatibility

SFZ is treated as an instrument compiler target rather than a static playback format.

District is also easily expandable - replacing or extending the provided SFZ files can dramatically change the instrument behavior while preserving the Blueprint structure.
